Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

12 Days

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimage journeys undertaken by devout Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of Bon religion. It involves circumambulating Mount Kailash and bathing in the sacred Mansarovar Lake, located in the remote Himalayan region of Tibet.

Mount Kailash, standing at 6,638 meters (21,778 feet), is considered a sacred peak in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bonism. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva in Hinduism, the center of the universe in Buddhism, and a place of spiritual significance in other religions. The yatra (pilgrimage) around Mount Kailash is considered a path to spiritual enlightenment, with devotees undertaking the arduous trek as a form of penance and devotion.

Mansarovar Lake, located at an altitude of 4,590 meters (15,060 feet), is believed to be the earthly manifestation of purity and divinity. Pilgrims bathe in its icy waters, believing it cleanses them of sins and purifies the soul. The journey to Mansarovar Lake and Mount Kailash is not just a physical expedition but a profound spiritual quest, where participants seek inner transformation and divine blessings.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra typically begins in Kathmandu, Nepal, from where pilgrims travel by road to the border town of Tibet. From there, the journey continues through rugged terrain, high mountain passes, and barren landscapes, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The trek around Mount Kailash is challenging, often requiring several days of walking at high altitudes, but the spiritual rewards are believed to be immeasurable.

Throughout the yatra, pilgrims engage in prayers, chanting, and meditation, guided by the belief that the journey itself is a form of worship. The camaraderie among fellow pilgrims, the awe-inspiring natural beauty, and the sense of spiritual fulfillment make the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many devout believers.
